KATRA, Mar 16: Katra Police has worked out a theft case and booked employee of a hotel in Katra, who had stolen cash of Rs 46 thousands from luggage of a pilgrim staying in the said hotel.
According to Police, the pilgrim namely Charan Singh, son of Pritam Singh, resident of C-523, Brij Vicar, Ghaziabad, along with his family members came to Katra on March 13 and booked a room in hotel Shri Krishna Niwas at Saraswati Chowk, Katra. He left for the Darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi on the same day at about 1600 hrs. Upon returning, he entered his booked room in the same hotel and found that cash of Rs 46000 was stolen from his luggage bag which he had kept at the same hotel.
On receiving a written complaint in this regard, a case FIR number 79/2023, under section 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Katra and investigation was started. By using human and technical intelligence, an employee working in the same hotel, identified as Sunil Singh son of Karnail Singh, resident of Thanpal, was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to have committed the said crime.
On his disclosure, stolen cash was recovered within 12 hours of registration of FIR. The Police operation was led by SHO Katra Nishant Gupta under supervision of SDPO Katra Surinder Singh and overall supervision of SSP Katra Amit Basin.
