JAMMU, Dec 3: Under the guidance of Financial Commissioner (Addl Chief Secretary) of J&K Atal Dulloo and constant efforts of Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing, Vikas Sharma aiming towards realizing Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers’ income and uplifting the Agriculture/ Horticulture sector of J&K, the Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing in collaboration with Invest India (ODOP) Team) organized first of its kind Mega Boyer-Seller meet at Kolkata today.
Around 250 participants consisting of buyers from Kolkata, officials of Government of West Bengal, President of Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association and officials of the Horticulture Planning & Marketing attended the event including sellers from J&K-farmers, SHGs, FPOs and entreprenures of J&K hailing from different corners of J&K; from remote areas of Kashmir to even border areas of Jammu which were facilitated to travel to Kolkata for meeting delegation of Buyers consisting of big merchants, exporters and giant corporations.
The meet was attended by Agriculture Minister of West Bengal Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay and Commissioner FP&H Department/Director Horticulture Kashmir J&K G.r. Mir and Special Secretary to Government Agricultrue Production Department Mohammad Farooq Dar.
Director Horticulture (P&M) introducted the department, its role in the Agriculture/Horticulture Sector, its grwoth various achievements and latest interventions that have been pushed by the department for the betterment of the farming community of J&K.
