JAMMU, Dec 17: A one day farmer’s awareness camp was held today at Dhataryal Panchayat Ghar in Block Marh.
The camp was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, S. Sarbjit Singh; District Horticulture Officer, Vijay Kumar Angurana; Sanjeev Kurlupia, DLSMS (Entomology) and Pardeep Kumar Dingra, Horticulture Development Officer, Marh.
While addressing the farmers in the Camp, Chief Horticulture Officer exhorted on availing incentives on departmental schemes under CAPEX and CSS.
He explained in detailed the incentives available on Area Expansion Programme, creation of water sources viz., dug well/deep bore well, water harvesting tanks, protected cultivation, tools and implements, power tillers, tractors, vermi compost units, on farm handling units and other components which will positively raise the economic status of the farming community.
He also emphasized on timely application of fertilizers, irrigation to the fruit plants for fostering the yield.
The District Horticulture Officer explained that it is high time to plant new grape vines.
Sanjeev Kurlupia (DLSMS Entomology) talked about diseases and pest prevalent in guava, litchi and other fruit crops.
The camp was attended by 250 progressive orchardist of Marh block and litchi plants were distributed to them.
