JAMMU, Feb 1: Members of All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association here today staged a protest demonstration demanding salaries and other benefits at par with their counterparts of other Union Territories of the country.
The protest was led by Kamla Sharma, Association president who said that the Government should project the issue of J&K Home Guards in the ongoing Budget Session of the Parliament. Click here to watch video
She also said, while the Home Guards perform duty at par with that of the constables of police department yet they are paid very less in comparison to what is paid to police constable.
The protesters also demanded framing of some policy in favour of Home Guards so that they may not suffer anymore.
Kamla Sharma urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K to intervene into the issue of Home Guards.
Babu Hussain Malik of Employees Joint Action Committee, Sham Singh, Yash Pal, Vikas, Munish Sharma, Sandeep Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Soba Singh, Mushtaq, Shahnawaz, Akhter, Kulwant, Sanjay Kumar, Varinder Singh, Basharat, Mohd Aslam, Usha, Arti, Satwinder Kour and others were also present in the protest.
