JAMMU, Nov 20: All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association (HGWA) today demanded the Government to implement Supreme Court order to adjust Home Guards of the State as regular constables.
The demand was raised during a one day convention of the association organized today under the leadership of their State president, Kamla Sharma. Avinash Sharma, National president of HGWA, was the chief guest of the conference.
During the one day convention of the association, it was unanimously decided to carry on their fight for their regularization from road to court till their ultimate goal of regularization as a regular constable is achieved.
Addressing the gathering, Avinash Sharma said that it is shameful that Home Guards of the J&K are being paid just 545 rupees per month for their duties, which they perform in all conditions.
He regretted that while many states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, MP, UP and Goa had implemented the Supreme Court order to adjust Home Guards as regular constables but J&K State is not implementing the same.
Avinash appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to end atrocities on the Home Guards by implement the Supreme Court judgement regarding adjustment of all Home Guards of the State as regular constables.
Kamla Sharma, State president, HGWA, while speaking on the occasion, resented the negligent attitude of the State Government towards the long outstanding demand of Home Guards.
She said that according to the judgement of the Apex Court, equal pay should be given for equal work but the allowance paid to Home Guards in the State is insult to the duties performed by them. She demanded the J&K Government to implement the Supreme Court order without any delay otherwise they will file contempt against the Government in the respective court.
