Sir,
It is a matter of concern that the State Government has turned a blind eye to the sufferings of the people of Jammu especially in matters of power and drinking water. It has totally failed to take notice of the plight of the people who have been made to thirst for water now for the last four days. There was no water supply to the city and people were virtually struggling for a drop of drinking water as the employees of PHE were on strike .
We are sympathetic towards the genuine problems of the employees and want those to be addressed and resolved. While at the same time, we feel sorry for their trade union leaders to decide denial of water to the people , the sick, the ones admitted in various hospitals. It is such a protest of the employees which cannot but be condemned. In India, it is considered as a good deed , a nice act to serve water , to offer water to the thirsty but never has it been seen that people are denied this bounty of nature, second to air in importance for the survival of the living beings , not only the humans.
Though water supply has been restored temporarily, the Government and the Union leaders should find an amicable solution to this problem for ever.
Yours etc…
Amit Mangotra
