JAMMU, Sept 13: The contestants for the forthcoming elections of Raghunath Bazar Businessman Association (RBBA) have demanded a free and fare elections based on the guidelines mentioned in the written Constitution of RBBA.
Addressing a press conference here today, Navin Jandial, a contestant for the post of general secretary of the Association alleged that the most of the proceedings were being carried unconstitutionally.
Jandial who has served the Association as junior vice president, general secretary and secretary said “the elections have been scheduled for September 16 and we have been demanding the rectification of the voter list as the existing list is full of errors and nothing has been done so far in rectifying the same.” Jandial said that the existing body was not conducting the business as per the Constitution of RBBA.
” I am repeatedly appealing for the last 25 days to the existing body to adhere to guidelines of the RBBA Constitution but to no avail. I have also sent written submissions in this regard to the election president, office bearers and all the members of RBBA and raised the issue in the Governing Body meeting,” he added.
He said earlier, the RBBA elections were scheduled to be held on August 26 but later the six office bearers and Executive Body members held a meeting on August 24 and deferred the elections. Later, another meeting was held on September 3 and
September 16 was decided as the election date. But conducting the elections without proper enrolment of electoral roll was not possible and such a election will be a mockery, he added.
