GREATER NOIDA (UP), Oct 24:
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today sent a strong message to Pakistan for its repeated ceasefire violation along the LoC and the International Border and asserted that India is capable of giving befitting reply to such activities.
India is never an aggressor and for the last two days ceasefire violations has been from the Pakistan side, Mr Rajnath Singh said.
The statement came at the 53rd Raising Day of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at 39th Lakhnawali Camp, Surajpur, in Greater Noida.
“Even on Diwali festival, Pakistan targeted innocent civilians.
“It should understand that India is capable of giving a befitting reply,” said Mr Rajnath Singh. On Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was with the soldiers at the world’s highest battlefield, Siachen, in J&K. He also met the flood-affected people in Srinagar and annouced a relief package.
Mr Rajnath Singh said,”India wants peaceful relationship with its neighbours. We consider the whole world a family. We are pained and angered when there is an aggression from China or ceasefire violation from Pakistan. During the last two days there has been firing from Pakistan side. India is never an aggressor.”
On the question of Pakistan Parliament unanimously passing a resolution against the alleged ‘unprovoked and indiscriminate’ ceasefire violations by India and seeking UN intervention to resolve the Kashmir problem, Mr Rajnath Singh said it is a bilateral issue and both need to sit and solve amicably through talks.
“We want peace but not at the cost of self respect,” Mr Rajnath Singh said.
On J&K flood victims, the Home Minister said that the Government will provide all necessary help to the affected people.
Mr Rajnath Singh dismissed the allegations of the Opposition that relief given by the Prime Minister was inadequate. The Government has provided adequate rehabilitation relief to the people of J&K and if required, will sanction more, he said. The Prime Minister yesterday met the flood-affected victims in Srinagar and announced a package to rebuild damaged houses and six hospitals in Jammu, Srinagar and Leh.
Last month, Mr Modi, soon after visiting the flood-hit State, had announced an interim package of Rs 1000 crore. The State had asked for a relief of Rs 44,000 crore. (UNI)
