HM claims responsibility for attack on police party in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack on a police party in south Kashmir in which a senior police officer and a Special Police Officer (SPO) were injured today.

A caller who identified himself as spokesman of the HM told local media that militants of the outfit carried attack on police party.

He claimed that militants later managed to reach to hideout safely after the attack.

A Deputy Superintendent of Police and a SPO were injured when militants attacked a police party at Bijbehara in Anantnag.

He warned police personnel who are assisting security forces against militants in the Kashmir valley. Stay away from search operations or face such attacks in future also, he said adding attacks will be intensified on security installations in the valley.

The attack came 24 hours after police announced a reward for anyone who would provide information about seven wanted most wanted militants of HM hiding in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. (UNI)
