History-sheeter booked; money, weapons recovered

JAMMU, May 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended two notorious individuals involved in a robbery in the Pouni Chak area of Jammu district earlier today.
The arrested individuals, identified as Mahavir Singh alias Appu and his accomplice Jatinderpal Singh, were found in possession of stolen money and sharp-edged weapons.
A police official said the incident came to light following a complaint lodged at Police Post Pouni Chak by one Sanjay Kumar of Sandwan.
According to him, Kumar reported that while returning home after dropping his sister in Phallian Mandal, he was intercepted by the assailants in the Seora area.
The suspects, riding a Scooty (Registration Number JK02DE 2799), blocked Kumar’s path, brandished sharp-edged weapons, and robbed him of Rs. 18,600 in cash, said the police official.
Upon receiving the complaint, he said, an FIR was registered at Police Station Domana and promptly an investigation was initiated.
Accordingly, the team from Police Post Pouni Chak, led by incharge Police Post Pounichak, apprehended the suspects within an hour of the incident, he said.
The stolen money, silver jewellery, and the weapons used in the crime were successfully recovered, added the police official.
