Hiranagar police rescues 4 bovines, arrests 2

KATHUA, Feb 5:- In its continued efforts to eradicate the menace of bovine smuggling from the society. District police, Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal- today foiled bovine smuggling attempt at in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Hiranagar, rescued four bovines, arrested two persons and seized one vehicle( Auto Load Carrier) involved in smuggling of milch animals.
Police said in the wee hours today a team led by Inspector, Yash Paul Sharma, SHO PS Hiranagar while on Naka checking near Dinga Ambh noticed one suspicious vehicle (Auto Load Carrier) bearing Registration Number JK02CS-7066 which was being driven by one Amit Choudhary, son of Tarun Singh of Sar Nikowal Jammu who was along with his accomplice namely Sanjeev Kumar son of Joginder Pal of Chakroi Jammu. They were signaled to stop for checking. On thorough checking, police team was able to found four bovines brutally tied with ropes in cruel manner which were being transported without any legal permission.
All the four bovines (two calves and two cows) were rescued, two persons were arrested and the vehicle involved in smuggling of animals was seized by police. Accordingly a case FIR No. 14/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11/PCA act was registered at Police Station, Hiranagar and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
