JAMMU, Apr 29: Jammu Kashmir Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti released “Mere Khayal Kehte Hain”, a collection of Hindi poetry written by Shivani Anand.
Dr Satish Vimal, an eminent Kashmiri, Hindi and Urdu poet, writer and critic presided over the function while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was the chief guest.
Prof Bharat Bhushan, president, Jammu Kashmir Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Shivani Anand (author of the book), S Deedar Singh (chairman) and Sunita Bhadwal were also present in the presidium.
While delivering his presidential address, Dr Satish Vimal said that Shivani Anand in her maiden publication in Hindi has succeeded in reflecting the misdeeds of the society and particularly the youth of the recent times. While coding her poetry, he further mentioned that Shivani Anand very beautifully projected the real portrait of women folk.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn said that Shivani Anand with her first publication as poet has very efficiently exhibited her thoughts in free verse style using idioms and symbols in a new combination. He further said that Shivani Anand is a multi faceted personality having additional talent of playwright, acting and anchoring.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof Bharat Bhushan detailed about the literary activities and said that Jammu Kashmir Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti is committed to organize literary activities to promote Hindi as national language in Jammu region.
Prof Nirmal Vinod, renowned Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi poet, writer, intellectual and journalist presented a review on the book “Mere Khayal Kehte Hain”. Shivani Anand recited some of selected pieces of her poetry from the book and also shared her experiences of creative process as poet.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sunita Bhadwal and vote of thanks was presented by S Deedar Singh.
Among others present were Dr Baljit Raina, VK Sambyal, Anjana Badyal, Sudesh Raj, Jang S Varman, Yogita Yadav, Shiekh Mohd Kalyan, Amita Mehta, Brijmohan, Sham Talib, Subhash Anand, Suman Pal, Shashi Bala, Shivabha, Virinder and Anita.
