Hindi Play ‘Ek Raat’ staged

JAMMU, Jan 13: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today presented Hindi play ‘Ek Raat’ based on a story of Rabindranath Tagore.
The play has been adapted by Pratap Sehgal and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The story of the play revolves around a man, who is living on the memories of his love.
‘Neelesh’, an assistant teacher curses himself for missing out a golden opportunity of getting married to his childhood love because he could not muster the courage to stand against the will of his father. Recollecting all the sweet memories with ‘Surbala’, Neelesh shares his tragic love story with ‘Ghoshal’, whom he considers a true friend.
Neelesh shares how he keeps cherishing all the moments spent with ‘Surbala’ during their childhood days and how difficult it is for him to accept that she has got married to Ramlochan, an advocate in Calcutta. He further goes on explaining to him the dilemma of visiting her house to meet Ramlochan, who is married to his childhood love.
Surbala and Neelesh witnesses a tragic situation when suddenly flood occurs in the city and Neelesh comes forward to rescue her from drowning in the rising flood waters.
They both took refuge on a rock, which was much above water level.
Artists who acted in the play were Abhinav Sharma, Sumit Raina, Sameena Kousar and Brighu Sharma. Lights were designed by Shivam Singh and executed by Neeraj Kant whereas music was rendered by Meenakshi Bhagat.
The show was presented by Sushant Singh Charak and coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
