SHIMLA, May 5 : Many places in Himachal Pradesh received light to moderate rain while some isolated higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti received light snow on Tuesday, the Shimla Met office said.
Dharamshala received the maximum rainfall of 33.6 mm in the 24 hours since 4 pm on Monday. This was followed by Kangra, which recorded 29.4 mm of rain, Guler 21 mm, Shimla 18.8 mm, Chopal 18 mm, Mandi 15.4 mm, Sarahan and Palampur 15 mm each, Rohru 14 mm, Bijhai 10 mm, Jogindernagar 9 mm, Barsar 8 mm, Kalpa 7 mm, Solan 5.2 mm, and Berthin and Bhattiyat 5 mm each.
A hailstorm lashed Kufri, Chopal and Jubbal, while a thunderstorm hit Shimla, Jubberhatti, Sundernagar, Jot, Bhuntar and Kangra.
Damage to horticulture crops in hail was reported from the upper Shimla region.
The Met department has predicted a wet spell in the state until May 11, barring May 9 and 10.
A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from May 10, it said.
The Met office also issued a yellow warning, predicting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kilometres per hour at isolated places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts on Wednesday.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district was the coldest at night, recording a low of 2.6 degrees Celsius. Una was the hottest during the day, with a high of 34.6 degrees Celsius. (PTI)
