JAMMU, Apr 17: Abdul Majid Khan, president of J&K Low Paid Employees Federation made a strong plea to the Government to enhance Medical Allowance to at least Rs 1000 in respect of State employees and pensioners in view of steeply rising Medicare expenses day by day.
He was referring to the notification issued by the Government recently raising Medical Allowance for sitting and former Ministers and Legislators from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 per month with a view to enable them to meet their present day needs on this account. Moreover, Medical Allowance for Central Govt employees and pensioners have also been raised to Rs 1000 per month. The Medical Allowance being given to the State employees and pensioners at a very meagre rate of Rs 300 per month for a pretty long time is not justified by any yardstick and it tenramount of sheer discrimination with State employees and pensioners as the ailment do not differenciate between the rich and poor.
The Federation Chief said that this and several other burning demands which include issuance of orders for the implementation of 7th CPC’S report on central pattern, release of due DA instalment from January 2018, revision of minimum daily wage to at least Rs 400, removal of negative aspects of SRO 520 relating to regularization of casual and other workers which are against the interests of the workers, will be raised in the ensuing May Day rally being organized by the Federation on April 27, 2018 in Jammu city to pay befitting tributes to the May Day martyrs.
