I would like to request J&K State Govt to highlight religious heritage of Chenani to promote religious pilgrimage tourism. Little known is the fact that Chenani was an Independent Princely State being ruled by a king from early nineteenth century. The area of the State remained increasing and decreasing depending upon the political circumstances of those times, but the identity and Independence of Chenani remained intact when all other Dogra hill states vanished into darkness except Jammu. The Anthal Rajput kings of Chenani contributed a lot for the development of pilgrimage related tourism in their area, the Central point of which were Sudhmahadev and Mantalai.
If the religious heritage of Chenani is highlighted properly and linked with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath Yatra, it will change the socio-economic structure of entire Udhampur Distt.
