Srinagar, Oct 8: J&K has set a new record in vaccination as over 1.82 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered today with over 1.37 lakh doses administered only in the Kashmir division.
As per officials, a total of 1.8863 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered during the day, breaking the earlier records of 1. 78389 lakh doses that were administered on October 4.
During the day, across over 2300 vaccination sites, 1372 in Kashmir and 959 in the Jammu division, the record doses were administered while as in Jammu, a total of 44 thousand 900 doses were administered.
In Kashmir Division, the highest doses were administered in district Baramulla which recorded over 24 thousand jabs. District Anantnag recorded 9261, Kulgam 9698, Shopian 16841, Pulwama 9755, Srinagar, 19033, Budgam 13319, Kupwara 14264, Bandipora 10084 and Ganderbal administered 7513 doses during the day.
With regard to the number of vaccination sites, district Srinagar for the day had the highest number of vaccination sites, 260, followed by Anantnag, 215, Baramulla 180, Budgam 145, Kulgam 131, Pulwama 92, Kupwara 100, Ganderbal 94 and Bandipora 80.
In Jammu Division, the highest doses were administered in Rajouri which recorded over 14 thousand jabs. District Jammu administered 9802 doses, Udhampur 3450, Kathua 4025, Poonch 3447, Ramban 1815, Doda 3967, Kishtwar 1357, Reasi 1552 and Samba administered 945 doses during the day.
In the Jammu division, Reasi had the highest number of vaccination sites, 145, Jammu had 97, Udhampur 144, Rajouri 103, Kathua 135, Poonch 105, Ramban 80, Doda 45, Kishtwar 70, Samba 35.
In terms of overall numbers, J&K has administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to around 95% of the population falling in the 18 and above category, while around 42% of the population has already received their second dose of the vaccine. J&K has an estimated 18 and above population recorded as 9,303,842, while 8,795,341have recovered their first dose and 3,913,524 have been fully vaccinated.
With regard to the overall vaccination of 18 and above, while 4 districts have achieved 100% coverage under dose 1 of the COVID vaccine, other districts have crossed the 90% per cent mark and are expected to achieve the target in the next few days.
As per officials, it would take the next 10-12 days for the districts to achieve the 100% target of vaccinating the members of the 18 and above category. They also said that with every passing day, the vaccination is expected to pick up across the Union Territory which is now entirely focusing on vaccinating the 18 and above population after achieving the required target in 45+ population.
