Highest 50 PoK guests arrives,9 Kashmiris cross to other side of LOC

SRINAGAR :  Highest number of 50 guests from Pakistan- occupied-Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while nine Kashmiris cross over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the border.    Official sources said here today 24 PoK residents,  including six women and four children, who had come here in previous Karvan-e-Aman buses, returned to their homes after completing stay with their relatives in Kashmir.    They said 50 PoK guests, including 12 women and 16  children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot.
This is the highest number of guests from PoK during 2014 as earlier highest was 42 on May 26.
The number of PoK guests increases during the summer and  goes down in winter when the temperature goes below freezing point in Kashmir.
Sources said nine residents of Kashmir, including four  women and two children, crossed over to other side of LoC to meet their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition.    The bus service, introduced on April 7,2005, has helped thousands of families divided due to partition, to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow their travel on permits instead of International passport. However, travel permit was being issued only after clearance from the intelligence from both the sides.
However, the travel is also confined to divided families only.
