PURI, Jan 12 : The highest level of security protocol will be observed by using state-of-the-art surveillance gadgets and trained manpower during the inauguration of the Sri Mandir Parikrma Corridor project, slated for January 17.
Inspector general of police (central range) Ashis Kumar Singh told newsmen here on Friday that the Puri will be put under the security blanket.
As many as 135 CCTV cameras with face identification capability have been installed in various parts of the town, and officers will monitor them from an integrated control room, he said.
Police arrangements were made in two phases. From January 12 to January 16, about 44 platoons of police force, three K9 teams, anti-sabotage teams, and BDDS teams, besides the existing regular police, will be deployed to provide round-the-clock security.
On January 17, on the inaugural day of the Sri Mandir Parikrama project, another 24 platoons will join the security, the IGP said.
These scores of senior officers, SJTA staff, security personnel, and SJTA officers will jointly operate in the Parikrama and Yajnasthal for proper coordination, he informed.
The police personnel will operate from all nine doors of the Parikrama. The entire security system has been divided into five sectors. Special emphasis has been given to the hassle-free darshan of deities by the devotees.
About six hundred young volunteers were imparted training to help regulate traffic, serve seniors and differently abled devotees, and look after their needs.
There will be no traffic restriction from January 12 to January 16, but on January 17, special security arrangements will be made, Singh said. (UNI)
