Hideout busted in Poonch; ammunition recovered

JAMMU: Security forces today busted a hideout and recovered cache of arms and ammunition, while a grenade was found in a field at Poonch district.

”A joint operation was launched on specific information by the troops of Rashtriya Rifles battalion based at JWG under Romeo Force alongwith police this afternoon and recovered arms and ammunition and other war like stores from a hideout in the general area of Rajada forest,” defence spokesman here said.

The war like stores was found in gunny bag near Dhara Nala, which included one AK 56, one Ak magazine, 550 rounds of Ak, one UBGL, 2 UBGL grenades, three pistols with magazines, six grenades, five grenades fuse, 63 rounds of nine MM and a transistor.

”Recovery of arms and ammunition have thwarted nefarious designs of terrorists,” he added.       Meanwhile a live grenade was found this evening in the field of one Mohammad Shrief in Kranala village of Poonch. “The grenade was taken in possession by the Army”, they added. (AGENCIES)
