JAMMU, Sept 14: Continuing with its efforts to serve the flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir, HelpAge India, one of the world’s largest social organization has reached to the flood affected people of Jammu as well as Srinagar and started relief work.
A team of around 4-5 members of HelpAge India reached Srinagar and started medical camps, where hundreds of flood victims are regularly visiting for treatment. Teams of HelpAge are also visiting the temporary camps, where flood victims are staying.
After distribution of medicines at Phallian Mandal, Surya Chak, Makwal, Raipur Satwari and many other areas of Jammu outskirts, today HelpAge India team started its relief operation in border belt of Pargwal in Akhnoor sector.
A team of expert doctors and other wings of HelpAge India along with Mobile Medicare Van reached Pargwal area and had first hand information of the areas which were affected due to heavy flood in Chenab River, last week. The Mobile Medicare Unit (MMU), equipped with medicare facilities which reached Jammu from Chandigarh, provided treatment to 63 patients at Hamirpur Kona and Pargwal areas.
After giving the medicines, team moved to the second location which was untapped.
The location surveyed today included village Hamirpur Kona, situated near forward post Bharwal Molu, informed Sunita Santoshi, Senior Manager of HelpAge in Jammu.
The adjoining villages of Harmirpur Kona, which were also visited by MMU, included Deora, Pakwal, Dhanpur, Krishanpur, Gurha Manhasana, Harmirpur Sadhir, Santhal, Gowar, Gowad, Barmin Kotha etc.
Meanwhile, Dr Misri, who is voluntarily working with HelpAge India as a senior consultant physician said that many people have suffered different kind of physical problems in these areas due to floods, so HelpAge India has decided to operate here with MMU in these areas for some more days.
