This has reference to the article ‘Increase tax exemption limit for small businesses’ by Bharat Jhunjunwala. The author has drawn attention to a very valid point in favour of small businesses. However, this alone is not going to help the small businessmen, as their business was hard hit during demonetisation. Some had to close their shops, while some carried on with difficulty. Many workers lost their jobs in the process. The RBI should come in aid of these businessmen. There is need to make cash available to them at cheap rates to allow them sustain the sinking ship. In case no help is extended to them at the earliest it will hit Indian economy hard.
