RAJOURI, Apr 8: Pakistan army today again resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, triggering panic among the civilians living in forward areas.
Reports said Pakistan army started shelling and firing in Jhanghar, Karali and surrounding areas at 3.45 pm today targeting forward posts of the Indian troops and civilian areas. The Indian side retaliated effectively, leading to heavy exchange of shelling and firing.
Pakistan army used mortars, automatic and semi-automatic weapons in the firing, drawing matching response from this side.
The shelling and firing continued till late tonight, reports said.
Yesterday also, Pakistani troops had shelling forward army posts and civilian areas in Nowshera sector while prior to that, there had been exchange of shelling and firing at Digwar, Khari Karmara, Bhimber Gali and other sectors of Poonch district.
There had been no casualties or damage on the Indian side in shelling and firing, reports said, adding that civilians confined themselves to their houses and didn’t venture out.
