Bhadarwah, Aug 28: Mobile services including internet and calling of all cellular companies remained suspended for past 20 days here, after Centre announced abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A on 5th August.
Heavy rush of people could be seen outside the BSNL offices across the erstwhile Doda district after the ban on mobile services. People are now going for BSNL landlines and broadband services.
A group of youth in a queue at BSNL office Bhadarwah said that due to suspension of Mobile services, they have now left with no alternative but to apply for BSNL landline and broadband services.
They said that BSNL is the only ray of hope for them to connect with others.
A student said that their studies have suffered due to non availability of mobile Internet as they have no access to online lectures, which were helping them to improve their knowledge through the guidance of world class educationists.
Media persons, who were filing their stories through mobile internet from any place had now to use broadband or private point-to-point internet services.
Media persons are suffering alot while filing their feed especially videos as there is very slow speed of broadband in the area especially in Bhadarwah.
They demanded that the speed should be increased so that they can file feed easily.
Junior Telecom Officer (JTO) Bhadarwah Sumant Kumar said that the department is providing landlines and broadband service to consumers where lines (pairs) are available within just three to four days. But others had to wait where the lines are not available. He further said that there is huge rush for new connections.
The mobile calling services was resumed only in 5 districts of Jammu division last week, after remaining suspended since August 5 midnight when Centre scrapped the special status of the state.
