JAMMU, Apr 25: Just after three days when Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo assured to look into the shortages and consider demands for improving services at the Sub-District Hospital, Jagti, a team of higher officials, led by Health Secretary, Syed Abid Rasheed today visited the hospital and assured to the community further improvement in its functioning and infrastructure.
Dr Rasheed and his team conducted a detailed survey of the facilities and held extensive discussions on the demands put forth by the community members and civil society organisations to make the hospital fully operational to the level of SDH replete with all necessary services and facilities.
The team members included Special Secretary, Health Department, Amarjeet Singh, Director Health, (Dr) Rakesh Magotra, CMO, Jammu, Dr Harbaksh Singh, DC (Relief) Vijay Sharma and camp commandant, Jagti, Omi Raj .
They had a detailed discussion with Medical Superintendent of SDH Jagti, Dr Sanjay Raina after undertaking an extensive tour of the hospital facilities and inspecting the existing equipment and provisions. He was satisfied with the working of the hospital officials and directed the hospital staff to work with zeal and zest for the improvement and welfare of the people and hospital.
Atal Dulloo had a few days back inaugurated a mega multispecialty health checkup camp at Jagti. The camp was organised at the Jagti SDH by VKS and Global Solace Society in association with Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, AoI and Department of Health & Medical Education.
VKS convenor, Kiran Wattal complimented LG Manoj Sinha’s administration for its speedy response after the Health Secretary’s visit to the Jagti SDH and hoped that the Health Department’s assurances would be translated into real actions.
He said the SDH ought to be necessarily upgraded to cater to the needs of the community members and those living in the proximity of Jagti township.
“As the hospital is situated close to the Jammu-Udhampur National Highway, it can also serve as an Emergency Hospital but, for that, it has to be upgraded and equipped with the state-of-the-art infrastructure,” Wattal said.
Global Solace president Pintoo Pandita spoke about the demands raised by the members of the community.
The health officials gave on-the-spot instructions to the concerned authorities and the Director Health for releasing funds for the hospital so as to augment its functioning and make it a SDH in true sense.
