JAMMU, Dec 19: On the directions of Director Health, Jammu, Dr Gurjeet Singh, the School Health section of the CMO Jammu today organized a one-day health check-up camp in the premises of the J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, near Shahidi Chowk Jammu for the deaf and dumb students.
The NGO runs a school for speech and hearing impaired children of the State whom are provided education including vocational training free of cost by the NGO.
A team of doctors headed by Dr Shahid Hussain (Medical officer) today examined 95 students and provided free medicines to the needy. The check-up included general health examination, dental care and eye sight. Dr Ritu Chib and Dr Sukriti, both Dental Surgeons were part of the team besides ophthalmological technicians.
The Controller Drugs, Lotika Khajuria, on the request of the president, Samaj Kalyan Kendra, KB Jandial, has agreed to provide nutrient supplements through some pharmaceutical companies for these students for their healthy growth.
Jandial hoped that such camps would be held bi-annually. Besides KB Jandial, other members of the Executive Committee of the NGO present on the occasion were VK Vaid, Prem Gupta, BK Raina, HN Raina and MN Sharma.
