Health Agency signs MoU with Bajaj Allianz for implementation of AB-PMJAY

JAMMU, Feb 29: Health Agency J&K has signed MoU with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh for the contract period of one year.
On behalf of the Government of UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh, the MoU was signed by Chief Executive Officer, Health Agency J&K Bhupinder Kumar and Himanshu Roy, authorized signatory of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited.
For the selection of insurance company, an e-tendering process was conducted by Health Agency J&K. Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited was selected as the lowest bidder on the premium of Rs 720 per family per year.
AB-PMJAY was launched on 1st December 2018 in J&K. From 1st March 2020, the scheme will be implemented in UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh by using new Health Benefit Packages 2.0 (HBP 2.0) designed by National Health Authority.
About 237 new packages have been introduced and price of 270, packages has been increased. To address the major anomalies of HBP 1.0, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare gave a mandate to NHA for rationalization of HBP. For this purpose, 24 Specialist Committees were constituted.
A Memorandum of Understanding was inked between NHA and Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) for the revision of Oncology packages. Department of Health Research (DHR) conducted a study on “Costing of Health Services in India” (CHSI), the data collection from Public sector hospitals was prepared and the results were shared with NHA. These results were provided to the 8 specialties committees as an input during deliberations for the rationalization of HBP pricing.
UT of J&K has already been applauded by the Government of India for innovative implementation of the scheme in the UT and stands as one of the top performers. It is foreseen that after adoption of HBP 2.0, the scheme will achieve both long term and short term goals and will improve the healthcare delivery system by strengthening capacity of public health institutions.
