JAMMU, July 27: A virtual meeting of the Headmasters across J&K Union Territory was held on Google Meet under Coordinator of School Education Officers (Headmasters) Union, Roop Lal, for highlighting the demands and issues.
The meet expressed it reservation over the demand raised by the Lecturers Forum, which is seeking 10 percent quota of Ph D Lecturers for promotion as ZEOs. There are clear cut two streamlines; one of Lecturers hierarchy and second is Headmasters hierarchy. Lecturers have lot of chances of promotion viz they get promotion as senior Lecturer and after that Principals, CEO and up to Joint Director. However, Headmasters are promoted as ZEOs and lastly as Principal. After that there are no chances of any promotion in favour of the Headmasters,” the Union members explained and added that the demand of Lecturers was just an attempt to snatch the rights of Headmasters and encroachment of their hierarchy.
Further, they said, Ph D is an academic achievement and it has nothing to do with the administration knowledge. Ph D Lecturers need to be inducted for higher education in colleges and universities where they can make the best utilization of their degree as well as qualification.
The Union also demanded restoration of non-vacation status to the Headmasters, regularization of Incharge Headmasters, removal of pay anomaly, change of nomenclature of the Headmaster as Secondary School Principal, continuing of 20 percent quota for the promotion of ZEOs as Principals, restoration of ZEOs charge to Headmasters in case of vacancy and time bound promotion in favour of Headmasters.
Those attended the meeting and expressed their views, included Subash Chander, Chander Mohan, Mohan Singh, P L Dubey, Rajinder Kumar, Rakesh Chander, K L Kaith, Surjeet Singh, Shabir Ahmed, Fazal ul Rehman Sheikh and others.
