JAMMU, Apr 17: In a petition filed by the Parents Coordination Committee and others seeking directions to the management of private school charging the fee under the heads which are not prescribed under the School Education Act 2002 or SRO 123, State High Court today issued notice to State.
In the petition, it has been submitted private school is having monopoly in charging hefty fee. “The education in the school has been made profiteering and commercial business which is prohibited by the Supreme Court in number of judgments”, the petitioners submitted.
After hearing Advocate G S Thakur appearing for the petitioners, Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir issued notice to the State through Commissioner/ Secretary Education, Director School Education and others returnable within four weeks.
In the meanwhile, the High Court ordered that the management of the private school should not charge the fee under the heads which are not prescribed in the rules.
