JAMMU, Nov 20: In a petition filed by Panchs and Naib Sarpanchs, the State High Court has stayed the construction of Panchayat Ghar at village Gurgani in Panchayat Halqa Deon.
Advocate Abhinav Sharma appearing for the petitioner submitted that in violation of J&K Panchayati Raj Act, 1989 and the Rules, the private respondents have started construction of Apna Panchayat Ghar at village Gurgani of Panchayat Halqa Deon whereas in terms of order dated October 29, 2011 Panchayat Ghar was to be constructed at Headquarter Deon only.
After hearing counsel for the petitioner, Justice Virender Singh issued notice to State and private respondents returnable within four weeks and stayed the construction of Apna Panchayat Ghar till further orders.
