JAMMU, July 4: In a petition of 2013 dealing with the alleged grievance of the petitioner that her husband has been done to death in police custody and is still struggling for seeing the report of enquiry, High Court has directed Deputy Commissioner Reasi to appear in person on July 27 along with record.
Justice Rahul Bharti observed, “the present writ petition relates to alleged custodial death of the husband of the petitioner. Despite repeated directions passed in the case for seeking the original record of the enquiry proceedings said to have been conducted by the Tehsildar, Executive Magistrate Ist Class, Reasi pertaining to the death case of the petitioner’s husband, namely Manoj Kumar nothing has come to the fore”.
“This court is left with no other option but to seek personal appearance of Deputy Commissioner (District Magistrate), Reasi along with the record of enquiry done with respect to the death of Manoj Kumar, husband of the petitioner”, Justice Bharti said and directed the Deputy Commissioner (District Magistrate) Reasi to appear along with the record on the next date of hearing.
