SRINAGAR, July 14: High Court today sought personal appearance of Inspector General of Police Kashmir (IGP) to ascertain the fate of investigation conducted by the police in JKCA multi-crore scam.
The Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey today directed the IGP Kashmir to be present in the court on next date of hearing i.e. July 27 with a fresh status report with regard to the investigation in the scam.
“We are of the view that IGP, Kashmir Zone, shall appear in person before this court with fresh status report on 27.7.15 to the satisfaction of this court”, DB directed after observing that the investigation is going on snail’s pace.
Court made it clear that if status report is not filed to the satisfaction of the court then the matter may be handed over to some other agency for investigation.
This court had earlier also expressed displeasure over the speed in which the investigation is going on and the Superintendent of Police City East Srinagar was directed to explain his own conduct for the delay,” the DB said.
“Thereafter a status report was filed in the month of May wherein SP sought of assistance of financial experts as the major investigational aspect hinges on huge financial transactions on both ends (receipt and payments) including interests occurred on CCR’s and FDR’s by JKCA from time to time”, DB recorded.
Petitioner counsel submitted before the court that appropriate would be to refer the matter to an independent investigating agency and said, “let it go to Crime Branch as the president of the Association in his reply also wants independent probe.”
