HC refuses to interfere with the Odd-Even formula

NEW DELHI : The Delhi High Court today refused to interfere with the on going odd-even formula of the  Delhi government .
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath had reserved its order on Friday on the petitions challenging AAP government’s 15 days trial of odd-even scheme to tackle vehicular pollution for improving the air quality.
On Friday senior counsel Harish Salve appearing for the Delhi government had submitted the report on the data collected on the air pollution from January 1-8 post the implementation of the odd even scheme.
The bench  had asked the Delhi government if the data collected till date “was enough” to determine the effect of the road space rationing plan .
The court also asked “why it is necessary to continue the scheme for 15 days  Is there any better method which can be brought in ” Calling it a  result of an “emergency” situation arising out of high level of air pollution in Delhi, Mr Salve said “There is a definite positive effect of the scheme.
” The report of EPCA was also submitted by Mr. Salve which stated that the air pollution level of Delhi this winter has been four times beyond the safety standard. (AGENCIES)
