SRINAGAR, June 2: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today pulled up the counsel of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, for not filing the response to the PIL alleging misappropriation of funds in the JKCA and granted him further week’s time for filing it.
The Division Bench of High Court Comprising Chief Justice N P Vasanthakumar and Justice B S Walia expressed its displeasure over taking the court orders for granted and directed the counsel appearing on behalf of Abdullah to file the response by or before June 11.
During the proceedings, Dr Abdullah’s counsel was required to file his response to the petition for which court has already granted him time.
Counsel appearing for Abdullah submitted before the court that he has appeared in the matter first time on last hearing. He said that he could not file the response as his client was out of country.
“You cannot play with the court orders. You were last time directed to file your reply and sought two weeks for filing the same. You are taking court as for granted”, observed the Chief Justice.
