HC issues warrants of CE, XEn

SRINAGAR, July 31: The High Court today issued bailable warrants of Chief Engineer (EM&RE) and Executive Engineer Sub-Division Rajbagh in a contempt petition for flouting the court orders and not filing response to the contempt petition.
Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey for violations of court directions and not filing the response to the contempt petition issued bailable warrants to the tune of Rs 10, 000 each of these two officials, Chief Engineer (EM&RE) and Executive Engineers Sub-Division Rajbagh, to be executed by SSP Srinagar.
Hearing a contempt petition filed by Advocate Nasir Qadri on behalf of Snow Peak wherein political persons and security personnel as per the contentions of petitioner Hotelier are living and are individually availing the electricity facility.
The said premises (Hotel) has been leased out to the petitioner by the Home Department for the sole purpose of providing accommodation of political persons and security personnel and there was some dispute between the Home Department and the hotelier with respect to electricity charges to be paid to the Power Development Department.
Court in its multiple directions directed the respondent department (PDD) not to disconnect the electricity supply of the hotel of petitioner hired by political persons and security persons.
Despite court directions the PDD disconnected the electricity supply to the hotel causing grave inconvenience to the daily affairs of hotel leaving no option to the petitioner to approach the court by filing a contempt petition against the officials of department.
