SRINAGAR, Nov 12: High Court today granted further time to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for tracing out the 400-year old manuscript of Quran which has been stolen from SPS museum in the year 2003.
It is after the CBI counsel S A Makroo sought some time in concluding the investigation, the Division Bench of Justice M H Attar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey granted two weeks time to the investigating agency.
“S A Makroo (ASGI) sought and is granted two weeks time for filing status report about the investigation of the case by CBI. List in the week commencing from November 28”, Division Bench order reads.
The investigation of the case was handed over to CBI in the month of September by the court with the observation that the Crime Branch Kashmir has failed to solve the case of theft of the 400 year old manuscript of Quran which bears the seal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
FIR No. 106/2003 was registered in the concerned police station in the same year when the manuscript was stolen from the museum. Court has already put hope on CBI for conclusion of the investigation within reasonable time and satisfied that CBI is alone to investigate the matter efficiently and appropriately.
