HC grants 3 days to GMC Principal to defend her appointment

Srinagar, Feb 4: High Court today granted three days to the counsel appearing for Principal Government Medical College Srinagar to argue the matter challenging her appointment as Principal GMC.
The Division Bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Sanjeev Kumar granted three days time in the interest of justice as last opportunity to Principal GMC Srinagar Samia Rashid to defend her case as she submitted before the court that her counsel could not cause appearance today due to his personal reasons.
Court granted three days to her counsel to argue the matter and recorded this would be the last opportunity in the interest of justice. Court also made it clear that in case the counsel would not argue the matter on appointed date, the matter be reserved for final orders.
Meantime appellant- Javed Chowdry’s counsel and counsel appearing for GAD and H&ME departments argued the case and records of cabinet decision were made available before the perusal of the court.
It is on previous hearing, Court had sought clarification from General Administration Department about submitting the service record of eligible candidates to the cabinet for the post of Principal Government Medical College Srinagar.
The direction followed after Dr. Javed Chowdhry claimed to be the eligible and suitable candidate for the post of Principal GMC Srinagar in view of his seniority and experience.
