JAMMU, July 20: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by social activist-cum-politician Vikram Malhotra seeking directions to State for implementation of Government Order No 222 EDU of 2006 in letter and spirit to ensure the protection of linguistic interests of minorities throughout J&K and Government Order No 222 EDU of 2006 with regard to Dogri subject in all private as well as Government Schools, High Court today directed the State to file response within six weeks.
In the petition, it has also been prayed that directions be issued to Union Home Ministry for issuance of order to the Department of Census to rectify its Linguistic Survey of 2001 with regard to mother tongues being spoken in J&K as available on its website and place Kishtwari and Siraji under the parent Family of Dogri and also Bhaderwahi from the parent family of Hindi to its original parent Family which is Dogri.
After hearing Advocate Abhinav Sharma with Advocate Tarun Sharma appearing for the PIL, Division Bench comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal issued notice to State of J&K through Commissioner Secretary Education and Chairman Board of School Education and Union Home Ministry through its Secretary returnable within four weeks for filing response.
