JAMMU, Sept 29: In the much publicized writ petition filed by a social activist Sukesh C Khajuria seeking registration of FIR under Section 124-A RPC (Sedition) against former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah for his pro-freedom speeches, High Court has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar and Station House Officer Police Station Nageen to file the latest status of the inquiry within a period of three weeks.
When the writ petition came up for hearing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed appearing for the petitioner invited the attention of the High Court towards the order passed on August 19, 2019 whereby the petitioner had been directed to produce the relevant material in the shape of newspaper clippings and the compact disc allegedly containing inflammatory material for handing it over to AAG Aseem Sawhney for its onward submission to the Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar and SHO Police Station Nageen Srinagar for completion of the preliminary enquiry.
“The petitioner has ensured compliance of this order and directions are required to be issued to the concerned police authorities”, he submitted.
After considering the submissions of Advocate Ahmed, Justice Sindhu Sharma directed the Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar and Station House Officer Police Station Nageen Srinagar to file the latest status of the inquiry initiated against Dr Farooq Abdullah within a period of three weeks.
