Srinagar, Nov 18: High Court has directed the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) not to auction and allot 159 plots which are earmarked for the employees of the Authority.
Justice M K Hanjura also issued notice to Commissioner Secretary H&UDD, Chairman SDA, Vice Chairman SDA, Auctioning Committee and Board of Directors and sought objections from them on the issue by before December 4 and directed the listing of the matter for further hearing on December 6.
Employees Union of the SDA approached the Court through the medium of writ petition stating therein that the Authority has to allot residential plots to its employees. They said that in the first instance 28 plots have been allotted to the employees and thereafter in the year 2006 further 75 plots stand allotted among 75 employees of the Authority.
The remaining 159, they submit, have been assured to be provided with such facility as and when the plots will be available and identified and though 159 plots have been identified and were available with the Authority but they delayed the process of allotment in favour of the employees.
The Union alleged that despite the Court direction authorities instead of allotting the available plots amongst 159 left over employees, rejected their claim without considering the matter in its true perspective, compelling the Union employees to approach the Court again
