HC directs Govt to ensure compliance of orders on Dal Lake

SRINAGAR, June 2: High Court today directed the Government to comply with directions passed from time to time with regard to protection and preservation of Dal Lake till the permanent mechanism is evolved by the monitoring committee.
The Division Bench of Justice MH Attar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey after going through the minutes of meeting convened by the monitoring committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of the State as per court orders, directed the Government to comply with all directions passed from time to time till the permanent mechanism is evolved.
Court also directed the monitoring committee to comply with its earlier directions wherein the committee was directed to evolve a permanent mechanism for preservation and protection of the Dal Lake and other water bodies.
Court also observed that the monitoring committee has not fixed the next date for convening its next meeting and directed it to convene the next meeting on June 18 and fix the calendar for convening of subsequent meetings.
Regarding the inclusion of amicus curie to the monitoring committee as its member, court has been informed that an order in this regard was issued by the Government on May 19 where-under Senior Advocate Z A Shah has been included in the monitoring committee as its member.
