SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Jammu and Kashmir High Court directed the Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar, to fill all the posts lying vacant in the Psychiatric Diseases Hospital within a period of two months.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice M. M. Kumar and Justice Dhirej Singh Thakur directed the GMC authorities to fill 11 posts in teaching faculty, 4 Registrars and 39 paramedical vacancies within two months by sending the requisition to the Public Service Commission or any competent authority.
The bench directed the GMC to make effective arrangements for disposal of bio-medical wastes within 24 hours which otherwise are being disposed off after a week.
“It would be unsafe to allow biomedical wastes to stay for seven days either in the Hospital premises or even nearby areas,” the bench said.
The court also asked the authorities to take all the measures for ensuring hygienic conditions in the Psychiatric Hospital.
The court further directed the GMC Principal to file status report with regard to these orders in the first week of October this year.
