JAMMU, Apr 13: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu today opposed the decision of Central Government regarding setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMA) in Kashmir valley.
In a meeting of the Bar held under the chairmanship of its president Advocate Abhinav Sharma, the participations said that while presenting General Budget in Parliament, Union Finance Minister had announced setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Jammu and proposed a total sum of Rs 2206 crore.
They expressed surprise over the decision regarding setting up of AIIMS in Kashmir valley and demanded that Union Government should reconsider its decision as setting up of AIIMS at Jammu would be in the larger interest of not only the people of State of J&K but of adjoining States including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Pranav Kohli, Secretary General A P Singh, Joint Secretary Depesh Singh Pawar, Cashier Rahul Sharma, YLA President Daljeet Singh Manhas and Vice President Pardeep Majotra.
