HBET distributes scholarships to 550 students

JAMMU, Sept 15: The 10-day scholarship distribution camp by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET) concluded today with distribution of scholarships to 550 needy children.
Brij Mohan Sharma, IFS Conservator Forest Department, was the chief guest on the concluding day of the camp. In his speech, Sharma told the students about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the Trust.
Vinod Sachdeva, prominent businessman and philanthropist, was the guest of honour. Sachdeva is regular supporter of the Trust. While speaking on the occasion, he praised the noble efforts of the Trust in helping the cause of education and also helping society at large to empower women.
Besides distribution of scholarships, the Trust also made arrangement for medical checkup and counseling of the students during the camp. Moreover, the students of class 1 to 10 participated in assessment tests.
During the camp, the civil defence department provided civil defence training to the parents of the children, who had come from various villages of Jammu region.
Meanwhile, selection tests for new students belonging to class 1st to 3rd were also conducted. HBET has been providing scholarships to poor students and conducting various other child welfare schemes for past 18 years. Parents of needy and meritorious children of Government schools can apply for the scholarship to the Trust.
