HBET distributes scholarship

JAMMU, Sept 10: Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET) today distributed scholarship to over 100 children on the second day of the scholarship distribution programme.
HBET is supporting education for the girl child in rural areas of Jammu region.
On the occasion, AK Thatai, Commissioner, Income Tax, J&K was the chief guest, who while speaking briefed about the mentorship and medical support programmes run by the Trust for all round support of the children.
Thatai praised the noble efforts of the Trust in not only helping the cause of education but also helping society at large to empower women.
He told the students about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the trust.
Trustee of HBET said that the Trust, which has a mission to change lives of needy children through literacy support programmes, has been providing scholarships and conducting various other child welfare schemes for the past 16 years.
Over 89 per cent children from rural areas are receiving the benefits of the scholarship, he said, adding that a total of 450 children will receive scholarships in the six day camp being held by the Trust.
“Trust supports needy and deserving children with renewed passion to remove ignorance and darkness from their lives by providing the light of education”, he added.
