JAMMU, Oct 7: Alleging a deep rooted conspiracy, hatched by the State Government  for abrogating Section 298 A and 298 B of the Ranbir Penal Code, which criminalizes the slaughter of bovines in the State,  Harshdev Singh, chairman JKNPP and former Minister, has accused the BJP of conniving with its coalition partner on the subject.
He said that the SLP filed by BJP-PDP Government in the Supreme Court challenging the Beef ban, in which ruling had also been given by the said court, had amply demonstrated the fact and proved beyond doubt that BJP could go to any extent for remaining glued to power.
Harshdev was addressing a protest dharna organized by JKNPP against the total neglect of Jammu region and the moves of the Government to revoke Beef Ban in which the angry protesters also burnt the effigy of BJP and demanded resignation of BJP MLAs.
Expressing his dismay over the SLP filed by the BJP partnered Government  in the Supreme Court, Mr  Singh pointed out that the State Government  had prayed before the said court “to Grant Special Leave to the petitioner (J&K Govt.) to appeal under 136 of the constitution of India against the order dated 08.09.15 passed in writ petition PIL No. 24 of 2014 by  High Court of Jammu and Kashmir at Jammu and order dated 16.09.15 passed in OWP No. 1648 of 2015 by the  Division Bench of the  High Court of Srinagar at Jammu and Kashmir”.
Harshdev Singh further pointed out that the ruling coalition  had even earlier clarified the ‘Govt  stand’ on beef row through the Commissioner/ Secretary Law Department,  Ashraf  Mir who had categorically stated at the time of sacking of Vishal Sharma that the said AAG had failed to project the ‘Govt stand’ before the High Court.
Others, who addressed the gathering, included Yash Paul Kundal, Rajesh Padgotra, Manju Singh and Jagdev Singh.
