JAMMU, Jan 2:  National Panthers Party (NPP) chairman, Harshdev Singh has called upon the Jammu based Ministers not to succumb to the pressures of their Kashmir counterparts over the issue of creation of new administrative units in view of wide spread irregularities and huge regional disparities in the proposed report.
Castigating the lopsided proposals and biased recommendations made in the Ganai Report, he said Jammu region has been given a raw deal with more than 70% new creations having been recommended for Kashmir Division.
He said that looking at the desperation of the Kashmir based Ministers to implement the highly controversial report, the Jammu based Ministers needed to take a tough stand and not to surrender to the dictates of the former.
Cautioning further the members of Cabinet Sub Committee to desist from playing politics over the issue, he called for complete review of the Ganai Committee Report and making recommendation of all new administrative units strictly on merits.
“There are numerous other reports suggesting that the new sub districts, tehsils, blocks and niabats are being recommended on extraneous considerations ignoring the claims of eligible and other deserving areas. Moreover, the constituencies of opposition parties are also being overlooked in the process”, Harsh alleged.
He said that NPP would hold protests, demonstrations and further ‘gherao’ the Ministers concerned constituting the CSC in case of neglect of any deserving areas.
Urging upon the CSC to strictly follow the prescribed guidelines and eligibility norms, Singh said that topography of the area, distance from the existing administrative unit, development index, etc were important factors which were required to be taken into consideration for the purpose of identifying new administrative units.
