UDHAMPUR, Mar 17: National Panthers Party(NPP) chairman and former MLA Ramnagar, Harsh Dev Singh and his wife- Manju Singh and a BJP activist Balram Singh were injured during clash between BJP/ BJYM and NPP activists at Kuh Nallah on Udhampur-Ramnagar Road this afternoon.
Sources said that the incident took place during the day when NPP leader along with his wife and some party activists, was moving from Udhampur to his constituency to address some public meetings. At Kuh Nallah, about 15 kms ahead of Udhampur, some BJYM and BJP activists led by local leaders Rameez Sheikh and Makhan Bandral were holding protest against allegedly breaking of some name plates of MLA from Ramnagar, RS Pathania.
The BJP alleged that NPP activists have broken many name plates of works inaugurated by BJP MLA, RS Pathania recently in Ramnagar constituency. On seeing ex-MLA coming from Udhampur side on his vehicle, the BJP/BJYM activists stopped the NPP vehicles and both sides had heated exchanges. It was followed by alleged clash between the members of both sides.
During the clash, the clothes of NPP leader Harsh Dev Singh were also torn. He and his wife received injuries and were shifted to District Hospital, Udhampur. A BJP activist Balram Singh of Ramnagar was also injured and also admitted to Hospital.
Harsh Dev claimed that he had some inputs about possible attack on him and had told SSP Udhampur Riaz Ahmed last night to provide additional security for his public meetings in Ramnagar but his plea was not taken seriously by Udhampur Police. The BJP claimed that it was preplan by the NPP activists to disrupt the peaceful protest programme of BJP/BJYM activists against vandalism of some NPP activists who damaged MLA’s name plates. Both the sides claimed to have lodged counter FIRs.
