JAMMU, May 11: Hari Prabhu Sanstha continued its social service activities by distributing pensions among widows and scholarships to orphan and needy students during a programme organised here.
Around 75 widows were provided pension while scholarships were distributed among 25 deserving students.
The Sanstha distributed nearly Rs 1 lakh for the welfare of economically weaker sections.
Five meritorious students from different Government schools who secured top positions in their respective schools were also felicitated with cash prizes of Rs 2,000 each, mementos and refreshment packs for their academic performance.
The Sanstha also informed that during a recently organised eye camp, 78 patients were prescribed spectacles which were later distributed among them.
Besides this, 57 patients were identified for cataract surgeries at Government Medical College Jammu on May 11 and transportation arrangements were made for taking them to the hospital for treatment.
Among those present during the programme were Sansar Chand Gupta, Kishori Lal Gupta, Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, Darshan Gupta, Hardyal Singh, Sudesh Gupta, Krishan Chand Verma and Subhash Gupta.
Tea and biscuits were also served to the beneficiaries and pensioners on the occasion.
