The protesting traders alleged that the corporation had promised to complete the construction of the gate within three months. However, despite this time frame passing, the construction work remains unfinished. This situation is causing problems for pilgrims visiting the holy shrine of Shri Raghunath Ji Temple, as well as for visitors and the traders themselves.
One of the protesting traders said, “the JMC cannot simply shirk its responsibility for completing the construction of the gate within the promised time frame. If they have changed their plans, it is their moral responsibility to provide an alternative route for traders and pilgrims.”
Another trader expressed his frustration, stating, “we agreed to the construction of the gate with the hope that it would be completed within the promised time frame. However, judging by the current pace of the work, it appears that the corporation will take another 3-4 months to finish the construction.”
“The JMC officials cannot afford to be so lackadaisical that they overlook the historical importance of this market, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims every day. The market is also significant as it houses an SBI branch, attracting numerous daily visitors,” he added.
“With unplanned construction, people are experiencing congestion issues, and this matter needs to be addressed,” he said, while urging the JMC administration to expedite the gate’s construction.
